Mastermind: World Conqueror Walkthrough
Mastermind: World Conqueror takes the typical war type premise you find in most online tower defense games and takes it to the city - adding tons of extra features and challenges to become one of the most addictive and engrossing tower defense games online. This game is so different from most of the other games in the genre, but doesn't completely abandon that which makes the genre so appealing. You still have your tower to defend and you still have to do battle with forces that want to destroy your base, but this game is so much more than that. In this game, you are the bad guy - the leader of the bad guys actually. You need to recruit minions to help do your bidding and plot various crimes to increase your wealth and your weapons cache. Your eventual goal - complete world domination. That isn't an easy goal to accomplish but in this game, it hardly matters. You'll have so much fun along the way that winning just becomes an added bonus.
The in game tutorial is pretty detailed and will show you all the basics about how Mastermind: World Conqueror is played. The tutorial will actually come in handy because the game screen can be a bit on the complicated side. The truth is, it's about as clear as it can be with everything laid out in an organized way, but with so much going on in the game, it would be hard to have the screen any simpler. At the very top of the right side of the screen, you have a help button you can hit if you run into any trouble. It's definitely a useful link as even the most seasoned tower defense game players will probably struggle at one point or another during the game. When you first begin playing, the game can seem overwhelming, but the truth is, it's actually fairly simple and straight forward once you've gotten the hang of what all of the controls and button do. Utilize the help button as often as you need to. It will do exactly what it promises.
You begin Mastermind: World Conqueror by creating minions. Minions are your underlings that take care of business for you while you sit back and reap the rewards. Create a few minions to start so you have a few to work with. You can always recruit more as you play, but creating a few right from the start will save you a little time and a little frustration. You need minions to work in the control room and to complete missions. Any minions that aren't in the control room or aren't working on completing a mission will be housed in the minion pool; ready to be called to action at any time. Never leave yourself with no minions in the minion pool and no money to recruit more. The key to doing well in this game is to have enough minions to cover your base (headquarters in this game), to do your missions and to work in the control room at all times.
With your minions ready, it's time to do missions. Missions are really what sets Mastermind: World Conqueror apart from most of the other tower defense games online. Missions are absolutely vital to winning this game. First, you need to visit the control room (the light bulb icon at the top of the screen) and plot a mission (the brain icon on the control room screen). Once you're ready to plot, you need to click an available slot (marked with a plus sign) to start making plans. You'll then be shown the missions available to plot. When you begin, you have only one option - 'steal science'. Click on the category icon (in the second slot of the top row), then the type of mission (the first slot in the second row) and then the specific mission (the first slow of the third row). Information about the mission - the mission category, how difficult the mission will be to complete, how many minions you need for the mission and how long the mission will take - will appear in the box below the third row. With all of your options selected, you'll click 'plot. You'll then have to wait for the mission to be complete before you can move on to the next one. Steal Science is the most important mission category because it allows you to move up the science tree which is important if you want to destroy the entire world.
once your mission has been plotted, you need to execute your mission. In the beginning of Mastermind: World Conqueror, there is very little chance that you'll fail a mission. As you progress, though, you need to carefully choose your missions and make sure you're choosing the right mission for your level and for the number of minions you have. If you're low on cash and have to use all of the minions in your pool to tackle a mission, it is a much better idea to save that mission for later and focus on something less risky. If you lose a mission you will not only lose any gain you would've gotten from it, but there's also a good chance you lose all your minions. Without the money to replace them, you could find yourself in a very bad situation. Once you've completed the tutorial level, you can start hiring more minions and assigning them to the control room. That will greatly increase your chances of winning missions. As you progress, there will be new types of missions you can tackle. They'll be more difficult than the ones you start the game with, but the rewards will also be much better. Regardless of what mission you are taking on, the strategy is always the same. Make sure you're capable of completing it before you take it on or you might find an early end to your game.
As you complete missions in Mastermind: World Conqueror, your notoriety rises. As your notoriety rises, you will get closer to the next checkpoint. Each time you achieve a new notoriety checkpoint, you will be attacked. You need to have your minions ready for battle. It's always a good idea to have more minions than you need fighting in the battle. More minions means a stronger army and a stronger army means less chance of defeat. The best way to deal with attack is to plan the distribution of your minions in anticipation of the attack. You're able to see how close you are to the next checkpoint by looking at the meter on the left side of the screen. When you notice you're getting close, start putting minions in your pool. If you have enough money, hire a few more minions. Have them deployed and ready to go, keeping only what you need in your control room and to complete your next mission. That way you won't be racing to deploy minions when the attack happens. Be ready for them and you'll have a better chance of surviving the battle.
Hiring patsies and henchmen is a great addition to Mastermind: World Conqueror. This is just one more feature in the game that sets it apart from all of the other tower defense games online. Patsies and henchmen will go along way to helping you complete missions and reaching your overall goal of world domination. You can hire patsies and henchmen by visiting the 'meeting room' (the chair icon to the right of the control room icon at the top of the screen). There are several different types of patsies and henchmen available; each offering their own strengths and weaknesses. As you progress you'll unlock more options. You can also add patsies or henchmen to missions from the meeting room screen by clicking on the 'call meeting' button. If it becomes necessary to terminate one of your patsies (and it will), you'll also take care of this from the meeting room. You can also amass wealth more quickly by investing. To invest, click on the dollar sign icon to the right of the meeting room icon at the top of the screen. You can buy a business or buy a new base from this screen. Businesses will increase how quickly you collect money. Some of the bases you purchase offer additional benefits but some of them just act as a sort of back up base. Hover over each option to view any additional benefits the base offers or to see basic information about the base including the cost.
To the right of the financial room icon, you have the weapons room icon (the gun icon). As you progress in Mastermind: World Conqueror, you will need to have decent weapons if you want to win battles. You have three options to choose from; weapons, defenses and powers. The weapons screen basically covers your average ground combat weapons - the weapons you minions will carry. You have a variety of weapons to choose. When you hover over each option, you'll see that weapon's strengths and weaknesses. You're going to want to try to choose something that delivers a fair bit of damage but is also effective against a wide range of enemies. That can be difficult. Instead of focusing your base defense on your minions, choose to purchase turrets as well, which you'll find under defenses. To build the strongest possible defense, choose weapons and turrets that compliment each other. For example, a weapon that is strong against infantry but weak against armor goes well with a turret that is strong against armor but weak against infantry. As you climb up the science tree, you'll unlock new, more powerful weapons. Remember though, you need money to purchase these things, so if you want to really do well in this game, you need to balance amassing money with stealing science. Investing is a great way to do that. Missions to steal money are necessary, but investing by buying businesses will allow you to build cash steadily.
The world icon (to the right of the weapons room icon) takes you to the inner sanctum. It's easy to forget the importance of this icon because you aren't using it constantly throughout the game but in Mastermind: World Conqueror, the inner sanctum holds a lot of valuable information you need to pay attention to. Clicking on the world icon will immediately take you to the science tree. This gives you an idea of how well you're doing in the science aspect of the game. Your goal is to get to the top of that tree so that you can destroy the world. To do that, you need to remember to do the 'steal science' missions. Beyond that, though, the inner sanctum will also tell you of various world events that you need to pay attention to. Sometimes these world events will tell you what mission you need to take on next (anything from stealing to kidnapping to spreading propaganda) and sometimes you will need to take out a patsy who isn't doing their job anymore.
Overall, Mastermind: World Conqueror is one of the most addictive and engrossing tower defense games online simply because it is so challenging. Newcomers to tower defense games are going to start off on equal footing as more experienced players because this game is so completely different than every other game in the genre. This is far more than your average tower defense game but isn't so different fans of the genre won't enjoy it. In order to do well in this game you have to really pay attention to every aspect of the game. There is a lot of information you need to pay attention to. It's all about strategy, but one you get the hang of it, it's really not all that difficult. Pay attention to what's happening on the screen, buy better weapons and defenses and don't ignore world events and you should be able to find yourself victorious. If you are a fan of tower defense games that will actually make you think, this is one you can't miss out on.
