The Engineer Walkthrough
The Engineer is a hybrid of shooting game and tower defense game that places you in the role of an engineer. That means that you solve problems. Not problems like "what is beauty?", but practical problems. OK, you know the rest. This shooting game feature a thrilling story, two modes of gameplay, and a map editor allowing users to create their own levels.
The Engineer feature two modes of gameplay: Story Mode and Survival Mode. In Story Mode, your objective is to hack all of the terminals on each level while fending off enemies. When all terminals have been hacked, you will progress to the next level. Your progress is saved in Story Mode of this tower defense game, so you can continue your journey the next time that you play. In Survival Mode, the objective is simply to survive for as long as you can against waves of enemies.
The Engineer uses a combination of keyboard and mouse controls. The arrow keys (or WASD keys) are used to move your character while the mouse is used to aim and to shoot. An engineer is just a guy with a cool yellow hat without building tools, however. Press and hold the spacebar to activate build mode. If you have enough scrap (collected from dead enemies), then you can build towers to help you defend your territory. Turrets range from basic machine gun turrets, to deadly beam turrets, to med stations that heal your wounds and more!
Although it is possible to play Rambo in The Engineer, taking on enemies all by yourself, it is important to remember that this shooting game has strong tower defense game elements. Not only should you build turrets to help you, you should do so in a way that will force your enemies to travel through a maze to reach you! If you can dictate the path that your enemies have to travel, you can buy yourself extra time to hack terminals while damaging your enemies. Before you start hacking any of the terminals on a level, try to at least set up perimeter defenses that will weaken your enemies before they get to your location. Setting up a medical tower near the next terminal that you plan to hack is also a good idea since you will be able to hack and heal at the same time.
The Engineer is a well-made shooting game that takes wit as well as firepower to master. If you are tired of stale, boring tower defense games or mindless shooting games, then The Engineer is a game that you are sure to enjoy!
