Undermountain Walkthrough

Undermountain is a Flash real-time strategy game that plays like a scaled-down version of Warcraft. This war game features simple graphics, simplistic controls, and multiplayer mode, allowing you to battle human opponents online.

Mission objectives are given before each level of Undermountain. Objectives range from collecting resources, finding artifacts, defending your castle in battles similar to tower defense games, and more. Your progress is automatically saved, so you can continue from where you left off the next time that you play. This war game also has a multiplayer mode, but when I checked there were no active games; maybe this will change in the future.

Undermountain uses the mouse as its primary control device. Click on the icons at the bottom of the screen to build structures or train units. After a structure is built, click on open land to place the structure. I advise building lots of farms at the beginning of each mission to keep your troops healthy and fed. Houses are also important if you want to field a large workforce.

Unlike most real-time strategy games, you do not have direct control over your units in Undermountain. In fact, you can only issue orders to workers, and the only order that you can issue is to mine rocks. Units will automatically eat at farms, collect resources, deposit gold, and fight enemies that they encounter. The inability to have direct control over your units will lead to issues in strategy, such as being unable to mass a large group of fighters for an attack (dwarfs will rush into battle as soon as they see an enemy, even if they are all alone) or miners advancing into harms way while fighters lag behind. Hopefully, the developers of this war game will take note of this and delivery a patch to rectify this problem.

Undermountain is an addictive game that will challenge masters of both strategy games and tower defense games. If you can get over the inability to issue direct orders to your troops, you will have a great time playing this war game!
